Past Nuevo Vallarta, there are a number of small villages such as Bucerías, Sayulita, San Francisco, Lo de Marcos, and Guayabitos. While the best way to explore the South Shore is by boat, the best way to see the North Shore is by rent-a-car or bus. Bucerias has a great beach with some fine restaurants. El Anclote, at the northern point of the bay at Punta de Mita has wonderful palapa restaurants, and Sayulita offers beachfront dining while enjoying great surfing conditions. A drive north is another "must" when visiting Puerto Vallarta and experiencing the grandour of Banderas Bay.
