Hector MoralesLifestyles Profile - Hector Morales
By Heather Wilson

“Vallarta is a very nice place to live with huge possibilities for the future,” says Hector Morales – family man, extraordinary minister and general director of Nuevo Vallarta’s Flamingos Club Residencial. “We’ve got whatever you want or need – big city facilities without the hassles, violence or pollution of a place like Guadalajara. With beautiful landscapes everywhere you look, not to mention the ocean and near perfect weather, life here is ideal except for one aspect: the integrity of the family.

“Divorce is all too common and the children are suffering. The Catholic Church is very important to me, so I do what I can to reach out to those in need of spiritual counsel. We can’t feel the spirit of the church if we’re not living its values.”

Married 20 years to Monica Perez, the couple has three daughters: Monica Alejandra, 17, Michelle Andrea, 12, and Maria del Carmen (Gigi), 10 – all of whom attend the American School, in which Hector and his wife are active. “I love doing things with my family, even if it’s just watching movies.”

Graduating in tourism administration in 1982, he managed the Antillano Hotel in downtown Cancun prior to returning to his hometown, Guadalajara, and starting a family business in shoe manufacturing, later switching it to carpentry.

Earning a post-graduate degree in finance, he then joined Situr, developer of marinas throughout Mexico, as project director of Marina Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. He also directed the Hacienda San Javier Club, a social and sports club in Jalisco’s capital.

What he’s doing now fulfills him, “because transformation – creating out of grass and earth with ecological considerations at the forefront – is the most important thing. Flamingos Club Residencial is a special place where people of all ages can thrive, enjoying healthy things in a family environment. I ask myself, What’s needed to live in the best possible way? Along with a comfortable home, open space, a church and a sport and social club, all the shops should be handy and all the facilities first class.

“Just as our children are growing and need guidance, so is Vallarta. And we need to take care of it by carefully planning its infrastructure and promoting it as one unified destination.”
