Profile - Hector Pérez
Tourism Coordinator
By Josef Kandoll
As executive coordinator of the consulting committee for tourism of
the municipal government, Hector Pérez doesn’t believe
in treading softly, even if he treads on his own toes.
One of the important changes being suggested is a more equitable taxation
of properties along the waterfront.
His restaurant, Tequilas, would be affected, but, as he says, “we
all must play our part.” Their main project involves creating
a patronage of the downtown historic district from the Cuale River to
the Hotel Rosita, not only for operation but image as well.
The taxation base comes up in relation to finding a funding source for
further publicity programs and, more importantly, proper marketing techniques
and studies.
