Giovanna MosquedaLifestyles Profile - Giovanna Mosqueda

Giovanna Mosqueda came to Vallarta ten years ago "on business... but one that wasn't even mine," she says between laughs and phone calls. Upon meeting, however, it's not hard to see how her dynamic character has kept her from allotting much time to arm-crossing for herself. It wasn't long before she started a business of her own, first as a real estate advisor for local companies, and close to eight years later, by starting her own company.

Four years ago Century 21's Philip Yeager invited her to begin her own business with a Century 21 franchise. "I liked the system and I believe that even if it's hard in the beginning, things can be done properly; so here I am, working on it." And the plan seems to be working, as her agency came out #1 in 1999's first quarter.

Regarding Vallarta, Giovanna strongly believes that "its magic" lies in the people. "There are more beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, more mountains in Hawaii and perhaps more privacy in Los Cabos. But here, people are friendly and kind. Nowhere do non-Mexican tourists mingle more with the locals than here. I live right on the Malecon, and I love to see how foreigners enjoy watching the Mexican families stroll the boardwalk."

So what does an owner-broker of such an important real estate franchise look for when it comes to finding a place to live?

For Giovanna, an extremely comfortable bed to get her recovery sleep and the perfect bathroom to be up and ready every morning is all she cares for. "In reality, this office is my house; this is where I spend most of my time. It all works as a big family kind of thing. The people working here are like my children and I, along with Alfredo and Olimpia, the parental figure."

Moreover, Giovanna does hold a real title in mothering with three daughters: Tammy, 19, Elizabeth, 20, and Aidé, 21. Here also Giovanna has achieved high marks by playing the role of two since her divorce ten years ago. "I admire her determination and firmness No matter what she set out to do, she never loses her focus on her goals," writes daughter Liz on a letter from Vancouver.
