BEST Remodel of a Nightclub:
CHRISTINE

Presenting a bold new face mirroring its hip entertainment concepts, the popular 16-year-old disco at the Hotel nH Krystal had an attention-grabbing makeover last November that its promo material calls “An evolution you will live through all your senses.”
Stark white, with 15 monumental marble stairs leading to its new amphitheatrical shape, it’s now as dramatic as its spectacular nightly lightshows. The bathrooms are now bigger, and four new VIP rooms with TVs accommodate up to eight people each. The décor’s sophisticated, neutral color palette has been spiced by lots of circular columns and stainless steel accents. And the sound system, good before, is now amazing.
Plans call for more world-class entertainers to appear here in the future, musical themes now changing every night of the week and special parties scheduled throughout the year.
BEST Remodel of a Hotel:
SHERATON BUGANVILIAS RESORT & TOWER
"Something’s different," all right! That’s the apropos new slogan for Puerto Vallarta’s largest resort hotel, which reopened almost a year to the day after Hurricane Kenna necessitated an ambitious multi-million dollar renovation to its ground floor and public areas.
With all the renovation there was to be done on the 20-year-old, 954-room hotel anyway, the time was right to add a valuable new feature – a 10,000-square-foot Convention and Expo Center, including a 1,500-square-foot exhibit hall with 20-foot ceilings and capacity for 50 booths, a 1,200-square-foot meeting room, and five more executive board rooms.
And for those of us who love a really good Sunday brunch, theirs is back at the La Villita restaurant, now seating 800 under a spectacular new 45-foot palapa.
BEST Remodel of a Restaurant:
CAFÉ DES ARTISTES
Making a major shift in what this prestigious dining venue is all about, owner-chef Thierry Blouet completely reconceptualized and expanded in 2003 into a trio of distinct yet harmonious concepts, providing a wider range of experiences under one roof.
Since opening Café des Artistes 13 years ago, Blouet has proved himself a genius at raising the bar as to just how incredible and multi-faceted a restaurant can be.
“We plan to be one of the best restaurants in Mexico,” he says. That concept is my dream, and this dream is my life.”
