Talk about bad luck. The local franchise of this world-renowned health club brand opened its doors for the first time in October, 2002, only a week before Hurricane Kenna hit Puerto Vallarta, seriously damaging the Malecón area along with other tourist areas near the ocean. Due to its unfortunate location, Gold's brand-new location sustained extensive flood damage, its state-of-the-art, never-before-used equipment ruined beyond repair. Undetered, the owners rebuilt from scratch, creating a location that maintains its reputation among fitness buffs and all the way to professional bodybuilders as one of the finest franchises in Mexico and the world. With well-maintained equipment, additional perks such as a boxing ring and a childcare center, not to mention a well-stocked juice bar and the finest selection of personal trainers in town, it is no surprise that Gold's Gym has earned this award.
