Providing good food at surprisingly fair prices, Italian-American owner and chef Paul Velser skimps on nothing – neither quality nor serving sizes. Enticing platters are presented along with menus for your perusal, and eight wines are available by the glass. Italian cuisine, steaks and seafood melt in your mouth, beef certified Black Angus and the veal – a rarity in Vallarta – imported Provimi. Using his recipes Òand the ones mom used to make,Ó all dinners come with your choice of salad and grilled garlic bread. Noteworthy are the escargot with drawn butter for dipping, huge oysters, warm spinach salad, plump pork chops with an aromatic mélange of grilled peppers, ultra-tender osso bucco, calamari with airy batter and two sauces, and steaks so tender they´re unbelievable. Pastas are al dente; the pesto is great. And they know their apples – apple brown betty, apple crisp, apple lasagna and apple pie among homespun desserts.
