The first concert of the year takes place March 20 and 21 at 8 pm at the Cultural Center on the Isla Rio Cuale. Featuring two guest soloists, Alaskan Kathryn Hoffer, concert master of the Anchorage Symphony since 1980, and Rigoberto Mora, well-known local classical guitarist and soloist with the Connecticut Chamber Orchestra, PV's chamber orchestra is a very welcome recent addition to the town's increasingly diversified cultural offerings. Orchestra director Mary McLachlan says this spring concert will include Bach's Orchestra Suite #1, Grieg's Holberg Suite, and The Vallarta Overture, a piece composed specifically for this group by Toronto composer John Robertson.
