Xiutla Receives Land to Build Dance Academy

Puerto Vallarta City Hall finally bestowed a two thousand square meter piece of land for the Xiutla Folkloric Dance troupe to build its much-needed Dance Academy, after 12 years of waiting. When constructed, this new space will be used for artistic development and cultural activities for the Puerto Vallarta community. The Dance Academy will be located at El Pitillal. Xiutla Manager Enrique Barrios Limon expressed profound appreciation regarding the consolidation of this project. The municipal dance troupe has proudly represented Puerto Vallarta in Mexico as well as internationally, traveling to the US, Canada, Europe and Latin America. Recently Xiutla celebrated its 12th anniversary and concluded an asian tour showcasing folkloric dances from many regions of Mexico. Professor Enrique Barrios, who continues training and managing the 250 group members to this day, grew professionally in the Ballet Folclorico de Mexico under the direction of Amalia Hernandez.
