Whales are in Puerto Vallarta!
Next December 8 begins officially the whale watching tours around the bay which give to local and tourist people the opportunity to watch this beautiful species in their natural environment. Expert guides offer a safe close encounter to gain a better understanding of the whale’s world. The beautiful Banderas Bay has become a sanctuary of a great variety of sea life species where the humpback whale is the most impressive. Every year, from December to April, Puerto Vallarta has the privilege to receive them. After a long trip the humpback whales find the peace and warm of Ocean Pacific to have their offspring. The humpback whale is a baleen whale, one of the larger species, adults range in length from 12-16 meters and weight approximately 36 thousand kilograms. The humpback has a distinctive body shape with unusually long pectoral fins and a knobbly head. Males produce a complex whale song which lasts for 10 to 20 minutes and is repeated for hours at a time.
