Vallarta Botanical Gardens Goes Non-Profit

Aside from having just launched a brand new website at www.vallartabotanicalgardensac.org the successful Vallarta Botanical Gardens is now a registered non-profit and now has earned the ability to be member, grant, and donor driven. Much has taken place at this popular new Puerto Vallarta attraction since it's opening a year ago. Aside from incredible growth due to the rain season, hundreds of tropical hardwoods were planted as part of a reforestation project along with many kinds of flowering and fruiting trees. Twenty five new palm species were added to the palm collection. Their Mexican orchid house is brimming with hundreds of native species many of which are endangered and are also endemic to this region of Mexico. Many new trails were created or improved and the Gardens now feature a staircase to take you down to the nearby jungle river. The centerpiece is the magnificent Plantation House Restaurant and Visitors Center set against the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Madre. The Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens has been accepted into the International Registry of Botanical Gardens of the BGCI, Botanical Gardens Conservation International, the most prestigious registry of botanical gardens and parks worldwide, located in Surrey, England. Starting November 15th, Vallarta Botanical Gardens AC will begin it's winter membership drive, and you will be able to become a member simply by visiting the website. However consider doing the 30-minute trip south of Vallarta and joining in person. You'll be pleasantly surprised! Membership earns you unlimited free admission, discounts in their restaurart and bar, members-only plants sales, preferred parking and much more. The Vallarta Botanical Gardens is located on Carr. 200 Sur, Km. 24, just after Las Juntas y Los Veranos. For more information visit their website or call (322) 105-7217.
