This Low Season is the Slow Season for Traffic

There's construction everywhere in Vallarta these days, buildings rising and bridges being widened to accommodate the resulting traffic as more and more folks move here as well as visit. One can't help but notice the effects of this construction when traveling the main road into town from the airport, Fco. Medina Ascencio. After having endured many months of slowdowns due to the construction of the new Fluvial, Peninsula and Gran Venetian developments, locals breathed a collective sigh of relief when the north-bound bridge over the Pitillal River was finally completed. But now the south-bound section of the bridge is being widened, as is the bridge over the El Salad Estuary just south of Marina Vallarta along this same stretch of road. Sometimes one gets lucky and can breeze right through as if nothing is going on. But chances are, if they are making a return trip along this route for the next month or so, they will get to take in the scenery for a little longer than they might like. When everything is said and done, however, getting around will be much faster and easier, everyone able to sail right into town from the airport.
