Third Dog Show Announced
All the best dogs, in the same place, at the same time. It is the third annual Puerto Vallarta Dog Show. The entries are in for this event to be held on February 24-25 from 11 am at the municipal stadium across from the Sheraton Hotel. According to organizers, this is a community effort to help Vallarta's animal shelter. "We have a serious problem with street animals because 45 thousand dogs are all over the streets approximately." The first dog show in Puerto Vallarta had 3 thousand attendants while second one increase to 6 thousand persons. Now 9 thousand attendants are expected by organizers, mostly kids. Proceeds from the event will be used to improve the shelter, buy food and general expenses. Every year dog lovers carry their purebreds and mixed breeds of all shapes and sizes in diverse categories to compete, including most beautiful, most obedient, funniest, and the dog that looks the most like its owner. This year the show also includes a routine where dogs jump obstacles, a game created in 19th Century England. Puerto Vallarta's Dog Show is sponsored by the Patronato de Control de Mascotas y Fauna Silvestre, A.C., Veterinary Doctors Association, among others. Entrance will cost $25 pesos adults and $10 pesos kids from 12 years old. Every dog participant have to pay $150 pesos by contest.
