Canadian player Wes Heffernan won the first Canadian Golf Tournament of Riviera Nayarit, obtaining 20 thousand dollars and a beautiful trophy allusive to this great sports event which was held at Paradise Village's El Tigre Golf Course. Several media reporters fromm all over the country, United States and Canada covered not only the tournament but also the destination’s attractions. The Canadian Tour began in Mexico six years ago, organized by Canadian Golf Federation. Presently, they organize four editions each year in different parts of Mexico. Riviera Nayarit's edition promises to be one of the bests around the world because the beauty of this tourist destination, and organizers are already looking forward to their return to Nuevo Vallarta in 2009. Canadian Tour Deputy Director said “It was great to be here, i’m very grateful for everything that was done in a very short time. The golf course and the tournament were terrific, i also have to thank the government and this beautiful destination area because our players really appreciated this space.” While Banderas Bay Visitors Office President Fernando Gonzalez assured “We are the brand-new destiny in Mexico, one of the bests, we have the whole support from government. Events like Canadian Tour gives us more promotion along with the fishing, the film festival, the gourmet activity and friendly people services.”
