PV to Host a New Champions Tour Event
March 27–April 2 the ClubCorp-managed Vista Vallarta Golf Club will see players aged 50 and over play a 54-hole, stroke-play PGA-sponsored tournament offering official prize money of $1.6 million. All three rounds will air on the Golf Channel in the US and two days of pro-am play will precede the official competition. "Puerto Vallarta is one of the great destinations in Mexico," says Champions Tour president Rick George. "Our players look forward to spending the week at the Puerto Vallarta Championship, where they'll compete on a terrific Jack Nicklaus design and enjoy the wonderful hospitality the facility and the area have to offer." Along with providing competitive opportunities for its membership, Champions Tour events raise significant money for charity, $89 million USD in 2004 alone. See www.pgatour.com for the details.
