PV Airport Operator Reports Passenger Increase
Puerto Vallarta's Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport processed 15,800 more domestic passengers this past month than it did in April 2005, an increase of 39.7%. And 24,700 more international passengers came through the facility this April compared to the same month last year, an increase of 12.1%. And during the first quarter of 2006, versus the first three months of 2005, passenger traffic at Puerto Vallarta's airport rose 18%. These numbers reported by airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP)clearly show the increasing popularity of the destination. The fact that the busy Easter vacation period fell in April this year also a factor. GAP operates a dozen airports throughout Mexico's Pacific region, including the one in Jalisco's capital, Guadalajara. And overall, it reports a 13.5% increase in passenger traffic for the month of April.
