Puerto Vallarta will remain a highly visited destination during the summer, according to the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA). This assessment is based on demographic information collected by several member agencies. ASTA President Cheryl Hudak stated that travel agents constantly analyze travel tendencies in order to better advise their customers seeking vacation recommendations. Along with Puerto Vallarta, Cancun is also expected to receive a fair amount of travelers. Other top destinations around the world include London, Rome, Paris, Jamaica, Punta Cana, Florence, Venice, and Frankfurt.

The American Society of Travel Agents was founded on April 20, 1931, in New York City as the American Steamship and Tourist Agents Association. ASTA changed its name to the American Society of Travel Agents in 1946. Now, its headquarters are in Alexandria, VA, claiming over 20,000 members in 140 countries. Its members include travel agents and companies who offer travel products, such as tours, cruises, hotels, car rentals, etc.
