Santa Barbara Theater Announces Upcoming Shows
Over 14 different shows and 50 special events will launch Santa Barbara Theater at its new 2007-08 season. According to Santa Barbara managers, the last season’s had the most exciting shows in its six year history, setting box office records from the get-go. That’s why they decided to bring a few of them back for encore performances.
The new season will start on November 10 with one of last year’s runaway hits: “Always, Patsy Cline”, a stirring theatrical production celebrating the life and music of legendary recording star Patsy Cline. Based on a true story, the show is presented through the humorous, heartfelt recollections of Houston housewife and avid fan Louise Seger who met Patsy Cline in 1961. The two women struck up a friendship that lasted until Cline's sudden death in a plane crash in 1963.
This show sold out its 12 presentations last year. In addition to a great story, co-stars Sandi Lee (in the title role) and Mikki Prost (as Louise Seger) deliver stunning performances, turning the show into a veritable honky-tonk jukebox. Another last year hit is back: BeDazzled, featuring five of Vallarta's finest talents performing some of The Great White Way's best musical numbers. You'll enjoy show-stopping songs from legendary tunesmiths like Berlin and Gershwin, memorable moments from classics such as Annie Get Your Gun and Les Miserables, and highlights from modern pop-driven musicals such as Cats.
Advance tickets for all show can be purchased online beginning September 3, 2007. For more information contact Ed Hutmacher via email at edhutmacher@msn.com
