New Year, New Ecological Awareness

New Year, New Ecological Awareness

Separating organic and inorganic trash is mandatory in Puerto Vallarta according to a new law passed by state government beginning this past January 1st, but the initiative is not new for Grupo Ecologico de Puerto Vallarta A.C., Puerto Vallarta's ecological group. The recycling project has been intensely promoted by this organization, aware of the long time a habit such as this one takes to sink in among the local community. Puerto Vallarta’s Grupo Ecologico, presided by Sonia Contreras, has 13 years of experience advocating for the local natural environment with several committees for various projects such as cat and dog protection and recycling, among others. Any person, regardless of their nationality, age or gender, can join the ecological group. “We ask each person about their interest in ecological issues to better place them within the organization's goals, and they can even start their own committee” explained the founder member R.C. Walker.
