New Sailing School Opens
If you've ever considered learning to sail, adding to the navigational skills you already have, or chartering a boat, this is one of the most appealing places you could do it, winter days clear and sunny with breezes in the 14-16 knot range. "Puerto Vallarta has long been a favorite haven for sailors and the sailing is purely outstanding," says Wayne Zittel, director of the new J/World Performance Sailing School based at Paradise Village Marina. Founded in 1981, with locations in the world's premier sailing venues, this US Sailing-certified instructional organization teaches all levels, from beginners to advanced racing and offshore cruising. The primary trainers in Puerto Vallarta are a fleet of modern 26-foot J/80s that are "responsive, fast, comfortable and safe, and provide sailors with immediate feedback to sharpen their skills."
