Local University Folkloric Troupe Heading to Montreal

The University of Guadalajara's campus in Vallarta, Centro Universitario de la Costa, recently announced that its talented and hard-working Vallarta Azteca dance troupe will participate in this summer's exciting Les Week-ends du monde festival in this vibrant Canadian city. Running for six weekends, July 8 - August 13, Mexico and this enthusiastic troupe will be featured August 12. Showcasing 50 countries around the globe, this event is a celebration of Montreal's multicultural diversity — Mexicans an important part of its cultural mosaic. (And we have a surprising number of Montrealers living here in Puerto Vallarta! )The Vallarta Azteca performance will take place at the beautiful Parc Jean-Drapeau, which accommodates up to 25,000. Troupe director Juan Antonio Salcedo to be congratulated for doing such a great job of preserving and promoting Mexican culture through this most traditional of art forms. Among the planned events to raise money for the trip, Hotel Velas Vallarta will host a gala three-course dinner July 24, Vallarta Azteca performing for the guests.
