The Lazaro Cardenas park and underground parking garage will be ready by December 20, according to constructor Tomas Souza. Souza emphasized that Venustiano Carranza street is still closed because work still needs to be done to avoid subsequent sinking. Geminis, the construction company hired to do the job is working around the clock to finish the underground parking lot along with the new contention walls that will allow for the street to re-open. A newsstand is expected to be completed this week. Lazaro Cardenas Park was cordoned off to the public last July 28, after more than a year of waiting for the axe to fall, concerned citizens and ecologists hoping it wouldn't.
