The festival will feature a wide range of activities including a food demonstration from more than 40 of Puerto Vallarta's finest restaurants, live music, dance, and cultural presentations.
Vallarta Orchid Society Monthly Meetings: The Vallarta Orchid Society was started by T.J. Hartung and is open to anyone with an interest in orchids. Meetings are at 1:00 p,m. on the last Saturday of the month from October to May, with the exception of December. Admission is free. These talks are designed to educate and enlighten, without getting into too much technical and scientific detail.
AOS Gives Research Grant to Vallarta Botanical Gardens: The American Orchid Society, an organization recognized as a world wide authority on orchids, has given the Vallarta Botanical Gardens a seed money grant to plan a meeting for orchid conservation in the “Cabo Corrientes” region of Mexico.
Religious Pilgrimages to Talpa: The town of Talpa located in the mountains about 115 km or 71 miles from Puerto Vallarta, has a huge influx of special visitors each March. Pilgrims (peregrinos in Spanish) come to pay homage to Our Lady of the Rosary of Talpa throughout the year, however they arrive by the thousands every March.
Beverly Rose, An Unstoppable Mover and Shaker is Gone: Beverly Rose, a Vallarta icon, passed away on March 5, 2008, just shy of her 78th birthday. She will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives she touched over her 17 years in our city. Norma Schuh, founder of the QuedaDivas, described her friend Beverly Rose as being "unstoppable, a mover and a shaker, and someone who livd her her life as a feisty woman."
Vallarta Enfrenta el SIDA, A.C. Receives Big Cash Donations!: Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Casa Cupula have both recently come through with sizeable cash donations for our local AIDS organization, Vallarta Enfrenta el SIDA (Vallarta Confronts AIDS in English, or VES for it's acronym). As this important local organization relies 100% on donations, the arrival of these funds is very timely and greatly appreciated.
Botanical Garden Announces a Spring-Summer Fashion Expo: Imagine a fun and relaxing afternoon at the Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens, enjoying fine food, an art and photography exposition and a fashion show. The Spring-Summer Fashion Expo, will be held on Saturday, March 15th This fashion show, has been an annual event in Puerto Vallarta.

Magnitude 80 Smashes Puerto Vallarta Record!: Doug Baker's Magnitude 80 smashed the elapsed-time record, and the largest Division I boats dominated the handicap standings of San Diego Yacht Club's biennial San Diego-to-Puerto Vallarta Race. Baker's 80-foot turbo sled completed the distance in three days, 15 hours, 47 minutes and 35 seconds – knocking six hours and eight minutes off the previous record set by Roy Disney's Pyewacket in 1998.
"Huicholes" - The Wixariti Tateikie Exhibition: Better known as “Huicholes” (pronounced whee-chawl), the Wixaritari are one of the few Indian tribes in Mexico who still have their own traditional language (Utoaztecan) and cultural heritage, spanning their history of more than 500 years. Currently, 50 Wixaritari from the community of Tateikie (Our Mother) are sharing their culture in the exhibition area at Plaza Caracol in Puerto Vallarta.
Festival Náutico - Vallarta Race Week: Regatas y Deportes Marítimos - Bahía de Banderas and The Vallarta Yatch Club is holding their sixteenth annual regatta from March 1 - 8, 2008.
