Fund Raisers Help Public Library

The town's Los Mangos Library is in the processing of repairing its roof, and monies raised at two recent events contributed more than 10% of the projected cost. In March, the members of the Lucille Shipley Art Workshop held their annual artwork sale at her Gringo Gulch home, contributing a percentage of the proceeds, some $6,000 pesos or about $545 USD. And this month, author R. David Lyons held a book signing of his new adventure-suspense novel, "Mexico's Hidden Gold," at the Cabana Club on the beach. And he donated all the proceeds, some $10,700 pesos or about $1,000 USD. While both events were promoted by members of the library board, they were organized, staffed and hosted by the individuals involved. And it is this kind of community support that will ensure the library continues evolving into an increasingly important educational and recreational resource for everyone here. (322) 224-9966
