First Blue Agave Golf Classic Helps Children
Seven local charities gathered at the Marina Golf Club April 25 to received their share of $50,000 USD donated by Club Corp. and the PGA organization. And this is thanks to this successful PGA Senior tour event played here recently at Club Corp.'s Vista Vallarta Jack Nicklaus course. Televised in the US, Canada and 145 other countries, this golf tourney also resulted in a lot of good PR for Vallarta. All seven charities have helping children in common, and two of them, the Boy Scouts and Becas Vallarta had some actively involved in this week-long event. The Scouts (girls included) manned the temporary car park, a hot and dusty job, while Becas scholarship recipients walked with the players, hefting the scoring banners for hours at a time. But all the kids involved loved being a part of such an exciting world-class event. The other five recipients of $75,000 pesos were the Make a Wish Foundation, the International Friendship Club, the RISE orphanage, Desayunos Para Los Ninos, and Toys for Tots. Plans are already underway for an even more successful event in 2007.
