Environmental Groups Find Home in North Shore
A hot spot for Pacific coast investors, San Pancho is now earning a reputation as a community focused on protecting the environment with three well-established environmental groups as key players. Grupo Ecológico de la Costa Verde operates an internationally recognized turtle protection project. Hojanay works to protect the endangered jaguars in the region. Anbikan works to establish an ecological preserve that serves as an educational resource for the community.
And now, newcomer EntreAmigos is working to educate children on a broad range of environmental themes. EntreAmigos has already organized a six-week series of summer workshops for children with a broad range of topics such as English, swimming, yoga and more. EntreAmigos also worked closely with both Anikan and Hojanay to offer free ecology classes for children, thanks to over 30 volunteers from the local community.
The amazing accomplishments of the nearly 100 children that participated in the workshops will be presented in the form of a Children's Art Festival this Saturday, August 19, from 5-8 PM at the Plaza del Sol in San Pancho.
