Canada’s Camrose Rotary Club recently donated 111 wheelchairs, 13 walkers, 28 canes, earphones and clothes for disabled persons in conjunction with the local Discapacitados Vallartenses (DIVAC) association. This generous donation happens every year thanks to unconditional support of several institutions such as Transat airline and Puerto Vallarta's Customs Office. Camrose Rotary Club members Gerome Stettar and Maurice Francour along with their wifes represented the Canadian Club presenting the donation to DIVAC Director Ivan Applegate Curiel. Puerto Vallarta's Rotary Club President Araceli de Rodriguez accompanied by Lupita Covarrubias and Maria Elena Curiel were also present at the donation ceremony.
DIVAC (Discapacitados Vallartenses) is a disability organization lead by compelling and articulate Ivan Applegate who became quadriplegic in a diving accident years ago. DIVAC primarily focus to help alleviate the isolation of people with disabilities providing social opportunities and encouraging employments.
