Bridge Construction Launched
The construction of the bridges over the Pitillal River and El Salado began recently. Scheduled to be completed by April, this eight-month highway project will increase the entrance lanes to four all the way into Puerto Vallarta. First, two lanes will be constructed on the east side of the current bridges. When completed, one of the old bridges will be destroyed while the remaining two lanes are built, after which the final old construction will be removed. At a cost of around $40 million pesos, half will be paid by the municipality while the other half will be covered by the state government. Jalisco Governor Francisco Ramírez Acuña was on hand for the inauguration of the project, which he stated brings the state total to over $100 million pesos contributed in public works locally this year. 9/20/05
