Puerto Vallarta Areas: Puerto Vallarta denotes the entire Banderas Bay area and northern shoreline stretching from San Francisco/San Pancho on the Pacific (North Shore) south to Mismaloya near Puerto Vallarta (South Shore). It includes over 40 miles of coastline and a variety of topography, culture and architecture and is often referred to as Costa Vallarta.
Landmarks: Every large city throughout the world is known for its signature landmarks and here in Vallarta we are not short of them. Often used as meeting places, these unique locations dotted in and around the area, are frequented by visitors and locals alike. Check out some of our most recognizable spots.
Things to Do: Puerto Vallarta is synonymous with fun! Visitors can choose from an abundance of activities, from excursions to secluded beaches, floating parties, scuba diving expeditions and romantic dinner cruises to hiking, biking, eco-tours, swimming with dolphins, whale watching and 4-wheeling.
Casa de Mita Image Gallery: A short drive north of Puerto Vallarta perched above the beautiful Pacific, is a tiny slice of paradise known as Casa de Mita.
360 Landmark: Temple of San Sebastian del Oeste: A visit to San Sebastian del Oeste, only 90 minutes by car from Puerto Vallarta, would not be complete without entering this beautiful church, built in 1608, where spectacular concerts are sometimes organized by the town. (Quicktime Panoramic Image)
Hotelito Desconocido Image Gallery: Two hours south of Puerto Vallarta at a place where the El Ermitano Estuary meets the Pacific, you’ll find the primal elegance of Hotelito Desconocido.
El Careyes Image Gallery: Along the beautiful Costalegre coastline 2 1/2 hours south of Puerto Vallarta and 75 minutes north of Manzanillo, lies the beautiful El Careyes resort.
Augustus Harper - Galería Sol y Luna: Up-and-coming Augustus Harper distinctly recalls the first painting he ever saw on public display. It was at the Los Angeles County Museum, where a David Hockney painting in which the artist had used another artist (Don Bacardi) as a model was being exhibited.
360 Landmark: Los Muertos Pier: It's ironic, considering that the literal translation of Los Muertos is "The Dead," that this long sandy beach on the South Side is the town's liveliest by far. (Quicktime Panoramic Image)
360 Spotlight: Galería Pacífico: Galería Pacífico features some of the stars of the Vallarta art scene, such as highly acclaimed master sculptor Ramiz Barquet and Patrick Denoun, a masterful French painter renowned in Puerto Vallarta and its sister city of Saint Tropez. Other well-known artists based in the area include Brewster Brockman, Marco Alvarez and Alfredo Langarica. (Quicktime Panoramic Image)
