The Costa Verde International School in Sayulita, Riviera Nayarit, has just announced the Surf-A-Thon 2012, a fundraising event to take place alongside the upcoming National Paddleboard Championship, on Saturday, June 9, increasing the appeal of what will undoubtedly be a great weekend in Sayulita.
A staple of Mexican cuisine, mole sauce, used in a number of dishes, originated in the states of Puebla and Oaxaca. A true poblano, Taste Restaurant @ Casa Cupula’s chef Oscar Rito celebrates his culinary roots by offering a special Mole Festival throughout the month of June.
The first National Paddleboard Championship will take place in Sayulita on June 7 - 10. The event will be open to Mexican competitors in several categories, hoping to attract the finest athletes in this increasingly popular sport.
A few months ago, the popular TV show House Hunters International visited Puerto Vallarta to document the process of finding a home away from home in Puerto Vallarta with local realtor Timothy Real Estate Group. The episode, which aired on US TV last month will be screened at Daiquiri Dick’s as a fundraising event to benefit Asilo San Juan Diego, A.C., Becas Vallarta, A.C., and Toys for Tots.
The annual Festival del Viento, or Wind Festival, an excellent opportunity to observe some of the region’s top kite surfers ride the waves and wind, returns to Bucerías, in Riviera Nayarit, on May 18 - 20. Less than 30 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta, Bucerías has become a preferred destination for kitesurfers largely due to its favorable winds.
Adriana Quinto’s new Contemporary Dance Performance “Estratégia de la Ruptura” is like paintings of distinct situations of every days life: passionate tales of love and loneliness with great touching rock music of the 60’s (Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen).
Without counting restaurants participating for the first time, this year’s Restaurant Week, May 15 - 31, will feature 12 restaurants offering three-course menus at $189 pesos per person (drinks and tip not included). In the fifth of a seven-part feature, we focus on the second group of $189-menu restaurants, wrapping up the series with all the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week for the first time.

The eighth annual edition of Restaurant Week to take place May 15 - 31 was officially announced to local members of the press through a conference held at Lobo Lui’s BBQ Shack, one of this year’s participating restaurants.
On Sunday, April 29th, at 3:30 PM, the Boutique Theatre Performing Arts Centre (330 Naranjo) will host the premier performance of the newly formed Telemann Recorder Ensemble. The instrument was a favorite of King Henry the Eighth, who owned 76 recorders over his lifetime, and the inspiration for several Bach and Handel compositions. Tickets, including refreshments are $250 pesos.
The Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta will host its semi-annual fundraiser in support of the Junior Sailing Program on Saturday, May 5. The event, a three-course dinner with live entertainment, raffles and auctions, is critical to continue providing this unique opportunity to youth all over Banderas Bay 8-14 years old.
One of the most anticipated tournaments, The Symetra Tours (previously known as the Ladies Professional Golfers Association Futures Tour), is coming back to our destination, hosted by Riviera Nayarit for a third consecutive time next April 23 - 29 with $125,000 USD in prizes, the highest in the entire tour.
The Casamagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa will host the 8th International Altruism Festival on Sunday, May 6, starting at 6 pm. Over thirty local restaurants will offer a gastronomic treat, showcasing some of their dishes. Tickets for this annual tradition are $300 pesos per person in advance, $400 pesos at the door.
The second edition of Aguas Abiertas Riviera Nayarit will take place Saturday, April 21, 8 am, at Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Approximately 300 swimmers in all categories are expected to participate.
Tuesday, April 17 will be the last day for the Malecon Sculpture Walking Tour for this season, which is the sixth year for this free tour. As has been the case every Tuesday morning at 9:30 since this season’s tours started on November 16th, no reservations are necessary and one must only show up at the Millennium sculpture next to Hotel Rosita at the north end of the Malecon.
Anybody hungry? More and more people look forward to our annual Restaurant Week event with anticipation. Produced by Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group since 2005, this year’s event will take place May 15 - 31 as before, featuring an unprecedented 45 restaurants from Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.
The Genius of Paco Studio & Gallery recently announced a special spring art auction to take place March 23 at 7 pm, at Marival Residences in Nuevo Vallarta, along with a special wine sale offered by D Stock Gourmet and Vinoteca.

Part circus show, past musical, local choreographer Jacobo Martínez presents an original production (in English) for a limited, two week run, beginning March 14, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM. Tickets are $250 per person.
Raicilla has a reputation for being created and sold without government approval, but recently Hacienda el Divisadero in Cabo Corrientes has been making and selling it legally, and you can sample this Raicilla, plus Tequila Real and Tequila Rebozo, at a special "The Spirits of Mexico" tasting at Daiquiri Dick's restaurant on Thursday, March 29, from 4 to 6 pm.
