 Local restaurateur Nacho Cadena has been organizing cultural events in Puerto Vallarta since the ‘70s. Not only are his events consistently good, his unstoppable creativity has earned him a steady following among locals who have come to expect nothing but the finest choices in cultural entertainment. “It’s taken perseverance and a quest for quality, and thanks to that, all my events are well-attended,” he muses, recognizing that it is the public’s satisfaction that inspires him the most to seek new offerings.
In that tenor, he has organized everything from intimate poetry readings to large-scale festivals in cooperation with other institutions, even visiting public schools in hard-to-reach neighborhoods, working with children a paramount priority for him. He is presently overseeing remodeling the theater at Hotel Hola, where he hopes to offer quality performances. “We will feature a special program to bring children to events that will stimulate their taste for culture and teach them to appreciate things for their value, not their price.”
It is Cadena’s success as a Puerto Vallarta businessman that has allowed him to work independently as a cultural ambassador, his own way of giving back to our community. Whether it is through bi-weekly events at La Petit’s mezzanine or participation in festivals such as the new Vallarta Winefest, he seeks to foster an appreciation of the natural beauty of our destination. “Life has given me many rewards in this latter stage of my life, offering me time, resources and opportunities to do what I enjoy the most,” he remarks.
