 The concept of cities establishing fellowships worldwide has been enriching communities since its inception by US President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1965. Through the years, Puerto Vallarta has benefited from this program by successfully partnering with cities such as Mission, TX, Santa Barbara, CA, and Highland Park, IL.
Of these, we can’t help but notice the many accomplishments that have taken place thanks to the strong relationship between Puerto Vallarta and Highland Park, which began in 2002. Exchanges include events ranging from local performances by the Highland Park Strings and several other musical ensembles to sponsorships for Vallarta artists and chefs to bring their knowledge and inspiration to this fair city, forging lifelong friendships. A testament to this friendship is this replica of Octavio Gonzalez’s sculpture, which now sits prominently in Hyde Park’s downtown area.
